THE BLACKPOOL CENTENARY CARNIVAL 2023

Press Release:

The plans for this year’s Blackpool Centenary Carnival event are well under way which is being held

throughout the Town but mainly on the Promenade between the North Pier and the South Pier,

starting on Saturday 1st of July and ending on the following Sunday the 9th July.

Under the umbrella of the Carnival there are several smaller events taking place, a music festival, a

dance festival, a food & drink festival all in local venues, the resurrection of Showzam which enables

street performers to pop up on various corners in the Centre, an art and photographic exhibition in

the local galleries, a magic and laughter show and an Asian festival, a poetry and spoken word event,

an Elvis day, an Abba day, a Beatles day, a Rock & Roll day and a Northern Soul day held during the

week on the Tower Headlands. In addition, during the first weekend the 1 st and 2 nd July, there is a

static display of motor cycles and 3 wheelers all along the walking part of the promenade with a

procession of these vehicles on the Sunday but on the second weekend on the Saturday, there will

be hundreds of exclusive Classic cars on show again along the walking part of the promenade

between the South Pier, the Central Pier and then the North Pier, millions of pounds worth of

beautiful vehicles, the like of which have rarely been seen before in one place at the same time.

This all builds to a crescendo of the Grand procession when many of these vehicles will lead the

normal traditional Carnival Procession.

The Blackpool Centenary Carnival will celebrate the history and heritage of the past 100 years but

will also look forward to the next decades when this event will not only become, the biggest and

most popular in the Blackpool calendar, it will be a very important and iconic UK Event between the

first Saturday and second Sunday in Blackpool, in July every year.
