Over half term, try to keep up with your reading📚. We will update diaries and bookmarks when we return to school after half term.

Moon watch - don’t forget to keep note of what the moon looks like each night - if it’s visible! 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘

No online learning will be set for over half term. However, to support our next geography lesson, please complete the following and bring back to school by Tuesday 29th October.🗺️

Draw a neatly detailed map of your route to school (in pencil) labelling roads and important natural and human features along the way. It is not necessary to name all roads or draw all houses/buildings along the way, as there will be too many. For example, you could name the main roads and include your house, trees, fields, places where you cross the road, shops, parks, churches, school crossing patrols. A key of symbols used on your map should be included. These symbols could be in different colours using coloured pencils.

We will be using these maps to create a digital map of your journey to school. So, on the back of your work write down the name of the road and postcode you live on, so you can identify where you live on an ordnance survey map.

Paper will be sent home today for the children to draw out their map.

An example is included below.

They will not be tested on these spellings weekly but should work on them each week. We will then assess these at the end of each half term. These spellings will focus on a particular sound or set of sounds that your child has struggled to spell.

Homework will need to have been completed by Tuesday 8/10/24 when I will check their results and house points will be rewarded. Parents will be informed by text if homework is incomplete.

Thanks for your support. If there are any problems, please catch me at the gate at the end of the day or email me at year5@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk and I will respond as soon as possible.
