Governance at Our Lady’s

As an academy school within Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust ( BEBCMAT) the governance model consists of a Trust Board and a local Governing Body.

The Members of the Trust Board are appointed by the Bishop of Lancaster. The directors of the Trust Board are responsible for all aspects of school life. They delegate some of these responsibilities to the head teacher and local governing body ( LGB ).

The management and responsibility of governance is made explicit through the Scheme of Delegation which is attached.

Full details of Trust Governance can be found by following the link to BEBCMAT

Local Governance

Individuals who sit on the local governing bodies ( LGBs) are referred to as local governors.

Key Responsibilities

The Local Governing Body sits at the heart of the relationship between the school and its local parish.  It is responsible for the Catholic Life of our school, day to day oversight of the management of the school and compliance with the Trust and school’s policies and practices, standar5ds and ensuring that responsibilities to families and pupils are met.

The Trust Board will determine the strategy for the Trust. The Trust Board will be supported by the Executive Team ked be the Chief Executive Officer.

Purpose of the Local Governing Body (LGB)

The role of the LGB in a multi academy trust is a valuable one in providing, as the name implies, a local focussed team who keep the school actions progressing in line with the multi academy trust key performance indicators.

The LGB will also play an important part in representing the view of the wider school stakeholders.

The specific roles of the LGB are laid out in the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation.
